a lot of people make their lives too easy, pretend it's all black and white. what I've witnessed recently is that a lot of people only consider themselves friends with other individuals who by chance share their exact opinion.
with recent events, most of all the refugees in europe, social media is bursting with opinions. every event, accident and even works of fiction have that little like-/emotion-button and most of all: the comment section.
facebook is going to extremes, with hate-campaigns promoting violence and whatnot against other human beings. if you've ever been to the youtube comment section, that's a completely different story.. but I'm drifting off.
obviously, I will surround myself with people of the same mindset. to me, that doesn't mean we're not allowed to disagree. following the last presidential elections in austria, the country is split-up in right and left wing it seems.
it's easy to agree. but I think it is vital to disagree. no un-friending of colleagues who didn't vote for my party. a dialogue is always better than silence. respecting a different opinion is probably one of the hardest things in life, maybe even more difficult than to not have one at all.
challenge your point of view. re-think your old mindsets. what has been right for years, may be wrong tomorrow. keep in touch, join the discussions. evolve!
